Reflections on my 67th birthday
Yesterday was my 67th birthday. 67 trips around the sun. Who would have thunk it?
I am humbled by the many friends, near and far, who have reached out with birthday greetings.
If you were to ask me, I still feel 39, in all ways but physical. I can’t complain about it too much, though, as I’m in relatively decent shape for my age. All those years of running, biking, hiking and skiing kept me reasonably fit. But, my age is catching up with my physical body in noticeable ways. I won’t enumerate as anyone of a certain age knows the drill. My deepest sadness is coming to the realization I cannot play competitive basketball any more, as my body can long longer respond reliably with what my mind asks it to do. 😢
This past year brought many joys and challenges. I got married ♥️, had a cancer scare 😵💫, traveled far and wide and met many new friends ♥️. All in all it was a good year, with the noticeable exception of the recent election 💔.
I’d like to close with a quote from Brian Doyle which I recently discovered and find it sums up my life credo at this point in time.
Blessings to all and be well! ♥️🙏
