The Time Has Come to Resist
A new Poll came out today that suggests that 46% of Americans support the direction President Trump is taking the country. This should make us take pause. On the other hand, 54% of the us distinctly disagree. The problem is, this is Trump’s highest rating on the question ever. In other words, despite the lunacy of it, the unaffiliated middle is slowly warming to Trump.
This is not going to end well. Trump is using all of his Constitutional power and more to grab and wreck as much as he can. Every day brings several new atrocities. And people are increasingly either going numb or shifting toward a more positive of these actions (tho almost no one will admit that they admire his character).
The point of the above observation/argument is not to be depressing. It’s to wake people up to the new social reality that the average guy (and gal) seem to be okay with what’s going on. And the Democratic Party has lost credibility and its vintage leadership needs to go. They have a very strong bench, so that’s good sign for the future.
If we want to resist this social drift toward the right, we need to pause our comfortable lives and resist. Talking to people in your lives is a place to start. Organizing your best personal magic and connecting with like minded individuals as a source of strength and solidarity is next. This is a critical moment the history of the United States.
